The whole tension

You can move.
Or change what moving means.

Every wall costs the turn you could have spent advancing. Place it too early and you lose ground. Place it well and one square becomes five.

One turn. Two choices.

Simple enough to start.
Sharp enough to stay.

Rivallum tutorial showing the legal moves for a pawn

See the finish line.

The goal is immediately legible: move your pawn to the opposite edge before your rival reaches yours.

No tutorial fog. You understand the race at a glance.

02 / 04

Rivallum tutorial showing how a wall reroutes a rival pawn

Spend a turn to steal three.

Instead of moving, place a two-cell wall. Your opponent still gets through—they just have to earn the longer route.

Every interruption creates a new decision for both players.

03 / 04

A Rivallum match showing an open route through a cluster of walls

Reroute. Never trap.

A wall may complicate the path, but it can never seal every route. The board rejects a cage, keeping every duel fair and live.

The game creates pressure without creating stalemates.

04 / 04

A dense late-game Rivallum board with several possible routes

Find the route they missed.

As the board tightens, tempo matters more. Advance, counter, or detour—the far edge decides who read the position better.

A complete tactical arc in the time of a coffee break.
